YADAPP Conference Enrollment Starts March 1Prepare for takeoff! Virginia ABC's Education and Prevention Section (EPS) is launching the 35th annual Youth Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Project (YADAPP) conference – Launching Leaders for a Better Tomorrow!
YADAPP is a peer-led program for students to address underage substance use at the high school level. Through YADAPP, teams of four high school student leaders and one dedicated adult sponsor attend a week-long summer conference to develop a Strategies To Act Now (STAN) Plan to address underage alcohol and drug use in their community. After the conference, teams work together to implement their plan utilizing the leadership and prevention skills learned during conference sessions.
So, how can you help? Recruit a team for YADAPP 2019! If you have rising 9th-12th graders, or are affiliated with an organization that promotes youth leadership, YADAPP is an excellent opportunity for them. YADAPP focuses on peer leadership and provides participants with the skills necessary for planning and implementing their STAN Plans. Participants are eligible to apply for YADAPP's peer leadership track which allows students to continue to participate in YADAPP for up to four additional years through youth staff positions including an internship.
